Joyce Barklow
Joyce joined North Gilliam County Health District in 2017 as Arlington Family Healthcare’s Family Nurse Practitioner. In 1979 Joyce became a Registered Nurse and has 32 years of RN experience in many hospital departments, including The Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, OB/GYN and Surgery. With her passion for education and healthcare Joyce received her master’s in Nursing Administration and Curriculum Development in 1999. Shortly thereafter she became the Director of Social Services, Litigation Review, Case Management, and went on to become a Hospital Administrator. Joyce went on to earn her master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2011. As a Family Nurse practitioner, she worked in Dermatology for 6 years and then transitioned to Family Medicine as a Primary Care Provider.
Arlington Family Healthcare Clinic allows Joyce to ability to provide one on one care for patients of the practice. As a Primary Care Provider, she enjoys the relationship she has built with the patients and their families over the last several years. Joyce feels being able to provide care in a rural area is essential especially because many residents of the community would not be able to continue to live here if it were not for the clinic and the services offered here.
The clinic is very flexible and offers same day appointments to accommodate emergent needs that arise from time to time. She also sees how essential it is to offer In Home Visits for the seniors who call Arlington home. Joyce loves to be busy and when she is not here at the clinic caring for patients you can bet, she will be at home indulged in one of her many hobbies; baking, crocheting, knitting, quilting, weaving, playing the mandolin or reading.
